A quick update on how we are progressing.

We are not just a Boxing and Boxing Fitness club!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since becoming a charity we have been able to reach so many more people and the opportunities are Endless.

We have been so lucky to have already got the support of a lot of local companies and amazing groups so far and this is just the beginning.

Please take a few moments to read some amazing reviews and a little of what's going on at WOBC.

Boxing & Fitness can make a significant contribution to improving the life experience and outcome for all children, young people and adults. At West Oxon Boxing & Fitness Club we pride ourselves in being fully inclusive, welcoming everyone into our family run club.

One of our aims this year is to support NEET young people and work with more SEN children as well as continuing with our outreach programme reaching both primary and secondary Schools.

We run sessions at the club for all ages from 6 years plus and all abilities.

Here is a testimonial from one of the Secondary Schools that we are currently working with....

Boxing has been so positive for a range of students this year, so thank you so much for your sessions. I have seen several students improve their outlook over the course of this academic year and they all cite Boxing as a big part of why they are motivated to change.

We have one Y11 in particular who has taken a real shine to the sport, who has changed his lifestyle behaviours a complete 180 and now wants to be a boxer as a career. Other students are more able to emotionally regulate during the school day, I hear "I'm going to be good/stay out of fights/trouble so I can go to boxing this week on a regular basis.

Another Y11 is managing to emotionally regulate through the day much more positively, Boxing has enabled us to reach him whilst he is 'seeing red' in a way we have been unable to do before now.

The girl's group has been massively positive for many reasons, including help build resilience and self confidence, whilst also providing a positive motivator through the school week. One Y11 female now exercises at home and bonds with her Dad whilst she does this, her confidence and skill increases weekly.

More news this month........

Since all coaches and volunteers recently completed their First Aid Training with Access First Aid, and the fact that we are getting busier by the day we realised the importance of having a Defibrillator at the club.

We were visited by Ashley who understood the passion and importance of the work that we do and the people that we support in our Community.

We are very grateful for the guidance and generous financial support from The Rotary Club to be able to purchase the machine and keep all members as safe as possible.

As well as the First Aid course all Coaches and Volunteers have also completed a level 2 Mental health course with Raegan from Access First Aid Training , what an eye opener and makes perfect sense now we have a specific "Safe place" to talk within our club because we all know how important mental health is right now.

We are also working with Achieve Oxfordshire providing Boxing Skills and Drills as part of their healthy living and weight management programme.

This is also proving to be beneficial in supporting young people and their families to make better choices.

Anyone and everyone is welcome at WOBC and the only thing that makes us sad is that not everyone knows about us, with that in mind we want to say a massive thank you to everyone who shares and likes our posts, and of course everyone who steps over our door to become part of the WOBC family.

Do you punch like a girl?? We started our ladies only Boxfit sessions as we saw a gap in the market and felt that ladies were missing out on something we knew from experience was amazing for not only physical health but mental health too. We knew when a group of women come together they form friendships that help make changes and this is confirmed as our Boxfit class has transformed from a small group to a tribe of regular members, with new ladies joining us every session. Over the years we have had supported ladies who have been struggling, with divorce, anxiety, cancer to mention just a few, and love the fact we have a "ladies only group chat" where we can share not only about Boxing but general wellbeing news and continue to support each other. Our ladies always give 100% at each session, whether they are injured or just feeling low, we adapt the session to support them in the best possible way. As ladies Box Fit coaches we look forward to each and every session where we know you can laugh, cry, shout and walk out feeling better than when you walked in, then our job is done. Do you know someone who could benefit from this? Can they punch like a girl? Bring them along, we would love to meet them See you in The Loft
